John Pratt Mosaic House Tours
John Pratt Mosaic House Visitors to the John Pratt Mosaic House and those
who view a 12-minute documentary film about the artist report a profoundly moving experience. John Pratt was a folk artist who took the broken pieces of his life and represented them in beautiful mosaic designs applied to the external walls of his modest home just outside Midland. To learn more about the John Pratt Mosaic House, call 837-1885 to schedule a tour. For a minimum of 5 participants, $8 per person. For a minimum of 25 participants,

Best Friends:Dogs and Cats in Art
Creative Spirit Center opens our Gallery to the fun and frolic of summer with our first art exhibit featuring pets. This show honors the deep connection between people and their pets, and highlights the simple joy and playfulness that pets remind us to keep in our lives. While this exhibit is on display, Creative Spirit Center will host a number of events focused on pets and people, to add to the fun. The exhibit is open and exhibited art will be juried. Three prizes will be awarded: Cat Best of Breed:$50, Dog Best of Breed:$50, Best in Show:$100. July11-Agust29. Friday, July 11 Opening Reception with the Artists. 7:00pm-9:00pm. No Charge.
Robert Driver Mural Celebration
H.H. Dow High School senior Robert Driver has spent part of the past 2 years painting a wall-size mural at Creative Spirit Center. This celebration formally dedicates this exceptional artistic painting and honors Robert upon his graduation. Hosted by Creative Spirit Center Co-Founder and Director Emerita Linda Z. Smith.

Shakespeare in the Park
The Pigeon Creek Shakespeare Company brings its lively, interactive Shakespeare performances to Creative Spirit Center with "A Shakespeare Sampler," a program of comic and dramatic scenes from a variety of Shakespearean plays. Based in Grand Haven, Pigeon Creek's style brings performance conditions from Shakespeare's own time to its shows, putting the audience right in the action! Bring a blanket to sit on, your own chairs, and a picnic to enjoy before the performance, with Creative Spirit Center’s mystical woods as a backdrop. A limited number of chairs will be provided. Greyhounds in a Tent - Dogs in Costume - Cats in a Corral ~ An Outdoor Extravaganza!
Join us as we welcome the Greyhound Group of Eastern Michigan (www.gemgreyhounds.org), to meet these sleek, gorgeous retired racers and learn about adoption. Enjoy a wonderful demonstration of Canine Musical Freestyle as performers from beginning levels to the most accomplished champion dogs in delightful costumes dance to music. Rescued cats will visit from Few Steps from Home (www.fewstepsfromhome.homestead.com/). The first 50 guests will receive a free doggie treat lovingly made without preservatives or artificial ingredients, thanks to DOG-licious Treats of Saginaw.

Hilarious Pet and Human Tricks
What unique trick can your pet do? What trick always brings down the house when you perform it at a party? Share your special talents at our SOS Animal Rescue Fundraiser – it’s our own version of the long-time feature on The David Letterman Show. Come sit on the lawn, share your talent, and take in the fun. Bring your own food, chairs, and blankets. SOS Animal Rescue will be present with information about adopting a pet of your own. Best trick of the evening wins a $25 cash prize.

Readings by Rustbelt Roethke Poets
This reading of poetry and fiction will feature several members of the 6th annual Rustbelt Roethke Professional Writers' Workshop. Held each July at Saginaw Valley State University , Rustbelt Roethke is attended by authors with significant publications, meeting in small groups daily for peer critique and giving public readings and presentations throughout the Tri-City area. This is the workshop's 6th year. A new anthology, Greenhouse: The First 5 Years of the Rustbelt Roethke Writers Workshop, will be available for sale. Please call to let us know you are coming.
